The Mary Gunn Library of the National Botanical Institute, Pretoria, South Africa, is the most comprehensive botanical library in Africa and possibly in the southern hemisphere.   It houses 10 137 books and 841 journal titles of which 248 are current titles: 99 received on subscription and 169 in exchange from institutions all over the world.   The library also houses a magnificent Africana and rare antiquarian book collection.
