Kirstenbosch Production Nursery and wholesale plant sales.

The core function of the Kirstenbosch Production Nursery is to produce the plants that are used in the garden displays at Kirstenbosch. An extensive range of wild South African plants is grown according to the needs of the garden. These plants can be roughly categorized as trees, shrubs, herbaceous, climbers, ericas, proteas, Cape reeds (Restionaceae) and buchu. A few bulbs and succulents are also grown.

Wholesaling

The nursery also produces plants for commercial wholesale to bona fide landscapers and nurserymen (not to members of the public). These plants are either excess to garden requirements or specifically grown for sale. Plants are also grown for events such as the Kirstenbosch Plant Fair and special plant promotions. Plants are therefore offered for wholesale subject to being unsold or not reserved for garden purposes.

The range of plants sold varies from the more popular commercial species to some rare and unusual plants that are not found in other nurseries.

The nursery does not deliver outside of the garden. All plants must be collected from the nursery.

Availability lists can be compiled and faxed on request. Requests will be attended to as soon as possible.

Donations

Due to the fact that we are inundated with requests for donations we are unfortunately not able to donate plants free of charge.

We do however sell a selected range of plants at cost price. Please contact us at 021 799 8608 to make further arrangements.

Visits to the nursery are by appointment only.
